Datatilsynet melder om kraftig økning i bruk av GPS-overvåking av ansatte i norsk arbeidsliv. Installering av GPS i yrkesbiler har økt kraftig det siste året. Datatilsynet behandlet i fjor 13 saker der ansatte mener å ha blitt overvåket via GPS på jobb. Hittil i år har tilsynet mottatt 18 saker. I tillegg melder tilsynet om kraftig økning i uformelle henvendelser via telefon, skriver Vårt Land. - Mange ansatte og fagforeninger har tatt kontakt med oss og klaget, sier fagansvarlig Christine Ask Ottesen i Datatilsynet. I Nord-Troms har et renovasjonsselskap sendt varsel om oppsigelse til en av sine sjåfører etter å ha brukt data fra GPS-overvåking for å følge hans bevegelser. Anklagene går ut på at han skal ha skrevet overtid på dager han skal ha tatt ut for lange pauser. Ledelsen i selskapet Avfallsservice har funnet ut dette ved å sjekke timelistene hans opp mot GPS-registrering.
